It's the meeting after the one before with many eyes on the next meeting. The drivers have very much the World Final in their minds, as the meeting starts on Friday, and boats are booked for Thursday! But there are many matters domestic to sort out here first, as the season reaches its terminus today. Paul Moss (979) has a healthy lead at top of the points, but a bad meet for the Cornishman could let the likes of Steve Gilbert (542), Matt Stoneman (127) and James Rygor (783) play catch up. For the lower graders, plenty of tyres and rewards on offer, as the White and Yellow series concludes along with the Mighty White series, 856 Jamie Cocks leads the way and will be a strong contender for the title alongside 141 Vinne Neath –Rogers.
Way back in 2000, when the Bunter family bought Mendips Raceway, before the new season started in 2001, a large silver cup was purchased by a family member to encourage young and inexperienced Stock Car drivers to persevere with their career despite all odds. This trophy is known as the Endeavour Trophy, and had been awarded regularly throughout the years, but due to a downturn in local novice and white top drivers, has not been presented since 2020, but this year it will be awarded again. There are a number of contenders this year, and we look forward to presenting to a deserving contender.
Fresh from another midweek display for the youngsters, the attendance is looking very healthy indeed. Riley Brimble (258)'s consistency sees him top of the shop, with the win or bust mentality of Jake Ralfs (28) to try and get on terms, Austin Latimer (620) is back after a mishap on two wheels and up to blue and the rapidly improving Bryant boys Olly (111) and Archie (511). Meanwhile Macca Loader (14) and Henry Chiplen (107) race off red.
Another find something, take the basics out, stick a cage in and a number on and away we go! 129 Lee Dalton, 154 Joe Odhams and 210 Ryan Brooks impressively lead the way in the B2B Bangers class, all 3 racing a minimum of 3 formulas over the course of the weekend. We wish them all the bst. Alongside in the B2B Banger bookings list is usual BMW Pilot 394 Benny Myers, 61 Beth Stevenson having a day away from the sierra and ever present across the Rookies and B2B Bangers scene this year, 23 Clive Crockford.
The Rookies are developing nicely with regular wins for favourites such as Jamie Thomas (70) and Harrison Staples (2). On the Wednesday meetings Big Mac (440) added and sharpened his nudge and spin rules as bit of relaxation following his heavy hitting BWS rounds! Points leaders 2 Staples and 366 Pete Warren lead the booking list, alongside long time top 3 in the points 775 Brad Hunt, who is the current Caravandalism Champion. Can Brad win it again?!
The conclusion of the Summer Series sees the bucket draw grids. Last time out saw Andrew Bressington (278) take a heat and final double. Going into the final round it is 720 Dan Latimer leading the way, just edging out 426 Russ Colenutt by the barest of margins. With an outstanding turnout of drivers today, the Mark Loader Roofing Summer Series Finale is sure to provide some untouchable fast racing.
The three wheeled free wheelers conclude their season with Tom Weeks (100) victorious on the midweek meetings with a maximum showing. In one of the busiest seasons, with over 100 roll overs, it all concludes today. The Points Championship concludes with 30 Joe Capel and 100 Thomas Weekes currently tied at the top with 518 Matt Capel, 10 Jerry Weekes and 304 Paul Weare all in close quarters. It’s going down too the wire! The Figure of 8 and DD is the conclusion of a rocking good season!
It wouldn't be Aiugust Bank Holiday Monday with the grand wobblebox destruction. The scurge of the motorways meet their maker in good form with the Caravandalism 23. Will their be a wobble box left? Will we see the autosculpture again? Wanton destruction in a frenzied mass of fibreglass
The big one The National Banger Championship of the World. The Oldest, The Hardest to win. Over 100 bangers booked in, the best of the best! BE THERE!!!
Cheers n gone
