REPORT: Sun 13th October 2019

After a lot of rain overnight and in the morning, it was still very foggy at the start of meeting. The first race was for the Junior Rods in which the visibility varied between ¼ to ½ the track and the fog lifted for the 2nd race and stayed clear and dry for the rest of the afternoon with the track getting dryer as the meeting went on.

23 Special Rods turned up and they was split in ½ for two Heats with the winners getting 1st row for the Final and 2nd place getting 2nd row etc. In the 1st Heat 64 Mark Thompson shot into the lead from 2nd on the grid with 364 Darren Feltham behind (from 4th on the grid), and the two of them built up a big lead from 831 Scania Dave, 711 Matt Gregory  spun out, and about the ½ way mark Feltham nipped up the inside of Thomson to take the lead and with 6 to go 720 Dan Latimer made it up from 11th on the grid mostly on the outside, to go round the outside of Dave for 3rd. Feltham went on to take the win from, Thomson, then Latimer. In The 2nd Heat 192 Ash Raymond out dragged pole sitter 62 Bobby Hewlett to take to early lead, and Raymond built up a big lead, and 135 Jim Cannon went from 5th to 2nd on the outside with 47 Richard Howard following closely behind!! Then Cannon and R.Howard reeled in Raymond and they both went round the outside of Raymond for the lead, then 768 Joe Delahay caught Raymond and after a while side-by-side Delahay managed to pass Raymond on the outside, Cannon went on to take the win from R.Howard, then Delahay, then 700 Les Brice, then 7 Will Harraway. 8 Cars came out for the Consolation 46 Angie Harris took the early lead from 2nd on the grid and 41 Dene Howard was quick up to 2nd from last on the grid, and 21 Brad Worthington and 181 Ian Mclaren had a coming together, then D.Howard went round the outside of Harris followed by 43 Andy Howard, D.Howard went on to take the win, from A.Howard, then Harris. 20 cars Qualified for the West Of England Championship Cannon out dragged Feltham for the early lead and 144 Ash Worthington spun on the pit bend and Harris, Headland, Scania Dave, and Oliver was caught up in the melee!! Cannon led the re-start from Thomson. Then L.Brice went round the outside of D.Latimer, then Brice nipped up the inside of R.Howard and Thomson for 2nd, then Latimer got on the outside of Brice and boxed Brice in behind a backmarker then Brice run into the backmarker, then Brice had to retire with damage, Cannon went on to take the win from D.Latimer, then R.Howard. 18 cars came out for the Grand National with Cannon starting on pole but a lap down, Harris took the early lead from 2nd on the grid, and Raymond and Dave  both had a couple of attempts to go round the outside of Harris but couldn’t made it stick and dropped to 3rd, then Delahay had a spin and was collected head on by Dave, Harris went on to take the win from Harraway, then Raymond. 41 Dene Howard was declared Track Champion and celebrated with some doughnuts!!

15 Junior Rods turned up and they were running a 2/3rds format with the highest point scorer getting pole ect. In the 1st Heat 26 Harry Meliville took the early lead from 2nd on the grid and 77 Jacob Filer and 149 Ieuan Preston was quick up to 2nd and 3rd, from 6th , 7th  on the grid, then Filer went round the outside of Meliville for the lead followed by Preston, then 75 Jack Buckingham went round the outside of Preston for 2nd. Filer went on to take the win from Buckingham, then Preston. In the 2nd Heat 610 Alfie Murray took the early lead from pole and 856 Jamie Cocks went from 5th to 2nd on the outside, then Cock’s nipped up the inside of Murray to take the lead, then Buckingam and 190 Thomas Gumbleton made it up to 2nd and 3rd, then Buckingham and Gumbleton went round the outside of Cocks to take 1st and 2nd, Buckingham went on to take the win from Gumbleton, then 8 George Jenkins. In the 3rd Heat Meliville took the early lead but Filer quickly got up from 6th on the grid to relive Meliville of the lead, then Preston, and Gumbleton made it up to 2nd and 3rd then Gumbleton tried Going round the outside of Preston and after a few laps side-by-side Gumbleton made it stick. Filer went on to take the win from Gumbleton, then Preston. 15 cars came out for the West Of England Championship Filer took the early lead from pole, and Gumbleton lost a few places at the start, and 100 Thomas Weeks made it up to 3rd from 8th on the grid, and Gumbleton recovered and tried going round the outside of Weeks but couldn’t make it stick, then they was a big battle for  2nd, , between Buckingham, Weeks, Preston, Gumbleton, and Jenkins, with a lot of place swapping all the way to the finish line, Filer went on to take the win from Weeks, then Buckingham. 75 Jack Buckingham was declared Track Champion.

41 Rookie Bangers turned up, serving up some good action, and they were a good mix of cars including, BMWs, Ford Focus, Mondeos, Sierra Estates, MK3 Escort, a Ka, a Capri, Vauxhall Astras, and Honda Civics. The Bangers were split in to two Heats with the Winners on the front row for the Final, Amongst the action in the 1st Heat 174 Ben Taylor was introduced heavily to the wall, and they was a couple of small pile up’s, 186 Sophie Fasey went on to take the win, from 929 Sam Baker, then 701 Be Brice. In the 2nd Heat Amongst the action they was another couple of small pile ups and 808 Simon Hartland run into the back of D.Greening, 881 Gary Emery went on to take the win, from 440 Macauley Mills, then 100 Alec Jenner. 13 Cars came out for the Consolation, 154 Joe Odhams spun 176 into the wall, and Hartland retired, and 126 Darren Willis and 820 Ian Mc Naught had a big coming together, 27 Dean Quinn went onto take the win from 29 Luke Dalton, then 595 Ban Wall. 30 Cars Qualified for the West Of England Championship amongst the action in a very lively race 34 Scott Gray ended up in the wall on the 1st lap, and later Gray got spun out and was collected head on by 775 Brad Hunt, and later Hunt was turned into the fence and was stranded on the home straight, and later Hunt was collected by Quinn, Baker went on to take the win from Fasey, then, 938 Ash Rice. 25 Cars came for the Allcomers Race and there was a pile up on the 1st bend leading to a stoppage, to assist Hartland out of his car. 14 cars made the re-start led by Emery from Quinn. Quinn gave Emery  a lot of attention but Emery managed to hang on, then on the turnstile bend Quinn ½ spun Emery and 743 Jake Bond ½ spun Quinn at the same time and Bond went onto cross the line 1st but after checking the lap sheets it was declared that Bond was actually a lap down so Rice was declared the winner. 938 Ash Rice was also declared Track Champion. 6 cars came out for the D/D Odhams gave 111 Tommo a big jacking, and it ended with a Head On between 362 Aaron Loader and Tommo, and Tommo was declared the winner.
