Over seventy drivers turned out on a dry but very cold day at the Mendips Raceway for Practice Day on Saturday March 5th.
There were lots of different cars to look at, including two brand new F2 stock cars from Neil Hooper(676) and Jon Palmer (24), who just managed to get sub 14 second laps in before the session closed.
Most impressive was the Brisca F1 stock car of Mike James (417), which was having it’s first run since Mike bought it over three years ago, as a precursor to rejoining the stock car fraternity after five year away.
There were new cars in the Junior Rods, including a Nova and an Austin A40, and new Special Rod from Track Champion Russ Colenutt (18). As always, there were several Bangers, including a Fiat Cinquecento for Will Teakel, making his debut on the track with a car destined for Micro Massacre on March 27th.
All in all a very good shakedown for the 2011 season.
